The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) will give priority to developing non-profit education in Vietnam, said UNESCO Special Envoy for Education Jan De Groof.

The envoy told Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan in Hanoi on December 5 that he wished to inquire into Vietnam’s education to seek appropriate measures to boost cooperation between UNESCO and Vietnam.

Deputy PM Nhan affirmed that education and training play an important role in the process of socio-economic development and global integration. He said he hopes that UNESCO will cooperate and support Vietnam in various areas, including developing non-profit education, improving higher education quality and providing ethnic people with better access to education.
