(VOV) - The UK is willing to share experience and help Vietnam organise the 18th Asian Games (ASIAD) in Hanoi in 2019.
A document to this effect was signed in Hanoi on January 7 between Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Ho Anh Tuan and UK Minister without Portfolio Grant Shapps.
Under the signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the UK will share its experience with Vietnam in organising its 2012 London Olympics and Paralympics, and offer assistance to Vietnam’s preparations for the 2019 ASIAD Games.
Grant Shapps said the 2012 London Olympics was a great success, bringing in GBP10 billion worth of trade and investment services for the UK.
He also attributed the success to support from UK businesses, especially small and medium-sized ones.
UK businesses are keen to invest in Vietnam and the MoU is expected to offer them plenty of opportunity to get involved in Vietnam’s ASIAD Games preparations, he said.
