U23 Vietnam aims for gold at 27th SEA Games

(VOV) -Vietnam’s U23 football squad arrived in Myanmar's capital Nay Pyi Taw on December 4, beginning their quest for a championship title at the biggest sporting event in Southeast Asia.

Coach Hoang Van Phuc said several outstanding players were not able to join the national line-up due to injury.

He said Vietnamese players are ready for their first match against Brunei on December 8.

They are confident they will go on to secure a place at the semi-finals where they are expected to defeat strong competition to clinch a gold medal at the event, Phuc said.

Secretary General of the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) Ngo Le Bang reported Vietnam’s U23 team includes the best footballers from across the country. He expressed his strong belief that the Vietnamese players will achieve the best results possible at the regional competition.

All Vietnamese matches will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television channels.
