Vietnam defeated Cambodia 1-0 in the final game of the AFC U13 Women’s Football Festival for Southeast Asia on June 14, winning the bronze medal.
Despite taking on weaker Cambodian players at Ho Chi Minh City’s Thong Nhat Stadium, the hosts had not scored any goal until the last minute of the first half.
The only goal earned Vietnam three points to rank third with 9 points after five games.
Guam outplayed Myanmar 3-0 on the same day to have 9 points, but were placed ahead of Vietnam on goal difference.
Thailand won the trophy with 12 points.
Vietnam lost Guam 1-2 in the opening match on June 9, defeated the Philippines 3-0 on June 10 and Myanmar 2-1 on June 11, lost 0-3 to Thailand on June 12, and overwhelmed Cambodia 1-0 in the final game.
