The two Vietnamese teams, Lienviet Post Bank and Vietinbank, had a chance to proceed to the sixth International Women’s Volleyball Tournament (VTV Cup-Binh Dien) after claiming victories on February 21.

In Group A, Vietinbank trounced Yang Sang rivals from the Republic of Korea with a 3-2 score after five sets. The same day, China’s Jiangsu club easily thrashed their host team, the Pacific Petro Construction and Installation Corporation (PPC), 3-0.

Meanwhile in group B, Lienviet Post Bank outplayed Thailand’s Air Asia-Suans 3-0, booking a place for the semi-finals. Australia’s national team also has a chance to enter this round.

The semi-finals will take place in the Mekong Delta province of Hau Giang on February 22, with two matches – one between Lienviet Post Bank and Vietinbank and the other between Australia and Jiangsu (China).

The week-long event is being jointly organized by Binh Dien Fertilizer Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Television (VTV), the Vietnam Volleyball Federation and Hau Giang province.

Organizers will present cash prizes worth nearly US$30,000 in total to the best individuals and teams of the tournament. The winner will get US$12,000.
