Two food specialities win national records
(VOV) - A giant crab pot and a giant fried mackerel were recognized as national records at an on-going culinary fair in Haiphong city on May 10.
Thirteen leading chefs in the northern port city of Haiphong have processed a fried piece of fish from 130kg of fresh mackerel. The final product is two meters long and weighs 100kg.
The chefs used other ingredients such as fish sauce, pepper, seasoning glutamate, garlics, onions and dill to cook the speciality dish over two days.It is said to serve 1,000 diners.
Other chefs cooked a crab pot that is large enough to serve 1,500 people.
Visitors to the May 10-16 fair will also be able to sample the gastromic specialties of Haiphongsuch as fermented crab rolls, fried mackereland cuttlefish, and crab noodle soup. .
The event, part of the 2013 Red River Delta Tourism and Culture Week – Haiphong, aims to contribute to the success of the 2013 National Tourism Year festival.
