Traditional martial art introduced in Switzerland

(VOV) - A performance of Son Long Quyen art of the Vietnam International Martial Arts Federation took place at the I’UNIL sports centre, Switzerland, on May 4.

At the opening ceremony, Vietnamese Ambassador to Switzerland Nguyen The Phiet noted that the traditional Vietnamese martial art has existed and developed for thousands of years.

It has become the pride of Vietnamese people during the course of national construction and defence, said Phiet.

Practicing martial arts helps not only improve trainees’ physical health but also preserve national cultural identity, he said.

Director of I’UNIL sports centre Denis Decosterd emphasized that the traditional Vietnamese martial art attracts both Vietnamese and Swiss, and there are many Swiss practicing Son Long Quyen art.

Philippe Clement, president of the Son Long Quyen art sect in Switzerland, said this type of martial art is developing constantly in Europe, and he hoped to promote the art in his country.
