Vietnamese track-and-field athletes have been disqualified for the 2012 London Olympics despite winning one silver and one bronze at the Asian Indoor Athletics Champs in China from February 16-19.

Duong Thi Viet Anh bagged the silver medal in pantathlon with 3,812 points and  also the owner of the bronze medal in high jump after passing the 1.84m level.

Due to her injury, Viet Anh’s performance at the Asian Indoor Athletics Champs was less impressive than at the 26th SEA Games in Indonesia where she conquered the height of 1.90m. To take an entrance ticket, Viet Anh would have passed the 1.92m level.

Vietnamese hopefuls Truong Thanh Hang and Vu Thi Huong did not join the competition. Hang plans to attend a training course in Kunming, China, in April to participate in the 2012 Asian Grand Prix in May, while Huong is training in Vietnam where she is under treatment for her injury.

Vietnamese track-and-field athletes hope to claim victory at upcoming events, including the All Stars Athletics Meet in Kazakhstan from May 30 to June 1, the World Indoor Athletics Champs in Turkey, and the 2012 Asian Grand Prix in May.
