Vietnam will take on Asia U19 defending champions the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) at the upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U19 Championship.

In Group C, Vietnam will also play other strong rivals: Uzbekistan and Jordan, according to a draw ceremony held by AFC on May 14.

Vietnam qualified for the final round after holding the DPRK to a 2-2 draw in a decisive game of the qualifying round.

Currently, Vietnamese players are competing in the Al-Nakba friendly tournament in Palestine, which also sees the participation of Uzbekistan and Jordan. The tournament will be a test for the players in the lead up to the Asian Championship.

The AFC U19 Championship will be held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from November 3-17. Sixteen teams are divided into four groups to compete in a round robin format to select eight group winners and runners-ups for the quarter-finals.

Vietnam and Thailand are representing Southeast Asia at the tournament.
