The play is just one of many events celebrating the 35th establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Japan and is free to the public.
The drama “A Good Man in Sezuan”, by German playwright Bertold Brecht, is a well-known masterpiece which has been performed around the world.
Established in 1954, the Tokyo Engeki Ensemble has toured many places worldwide, including Russia, the Republic of Korea, Italy, the UK, Ireland and Vietnam.
The ensemble now has 70 artists and is led by director Sawako Shiga, who has arranged the drama to be performed in Vietnam along the lines of the original version in 1981.
"We chose this drama for performance in Vietnam to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries," said Sawako Shiga, adding that the drama delivers the message that the huge gap between rich and poor in the world creates increasing social ills.
The drama aims to reach young audiences who love classical works composed by Bertold Brecht. The first two performances will be held in the Youth Theatre at 11 Ngo Thi Nham Street, Hanoi.
