Experts from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) have worked with leaders from the Thua Thien-Hue provincial People’s Committee on a project to expand the protection of the UNCESCO cultural heritage complex in terms of architecture and natural landscape.

During the working session, the experts wanted the province to expand the protection of the relic sites including part of the Huong River and surrounding landscape and to remove local people from the areas so that restoration and preservation work can proceed on schedule.

They also asked for temporary suspension of major infrastructure projects in the areas until the plan for expansion of historic relics is approved.
