Three Vietnamese photographers were awarded prizes at the second annual “Picture This: We Can End Poverty” international photo contest at the United Nations headquarters in New York on September 15.

The contest was judged by United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Goodwill Ambassador and internationally-acclaimed actor Antonio Banderas and four photojournalists.

Tran Vinh Nghia, a videographer from Viet Nam, was the first prize winner in the amateur category, while photographer Thanh Hai received an honourable mention in the professional category and Quoc Nguyen was given an honourable mention in the amateur category.

The event was organised by the UNDP in partnership with Olympus Corporation and the Agence France-Presse (AFP) Foundation to profile people who have contributed to the achievement of Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in their local communities.
