The two youngest candidates are Hoang Thi Thuy Dung and Nguyen Ngoc Thuy Tien (who were born in 1987). The only candidate from minority groups is Y Garia Enuol, who comes from the Central Highland province of Dak Lak.

The competitors performed well such difficult songs as Du anh khong den, Song Ngang Ngang and Tren dinh Cu Lay. They showed strong, high voices and great self-confidence.  Some of them created minor changes in the songs’ tunes.

Finally, Tran Hoang Nghiep (Can Tho), Nguyen Thi Thu Phuong (Hanoi), and Pham Ha Linh (Hanoi) scored 9.38 – 9.36 – 9.48 points respectively to qualify for the final of the contest.
