Under the theme “Indochina Cultural Heritage Meeting”, the festival aims to honour the world’s cultural heritages and promote tourism between Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia.
The opening programme included three major sections, starting with an art performance by 50 artists from the three countries.
Visitors also had a chance to enjoy art performances given by troupes from Angkor and Siem Reap of Cambodia, WatPhou, Champasak and Luang Prabang of Laos, especially Hue Royal Court Music (Nha Nhac) - an intangible cultural heritage, and Gong music from the Central Highlands.
Ho Si Tan, a visitor from Da Nang city said he was really impressed with the opening programme and the festival provided him with an opportunity to enjoy culture and art from the Indochinese countries’ cultural heritages.
The same day, diverse art activities were held in the ancient town of Hoi An including an exhibition showcasing objects from community cultures, and a culinary arts festival.
Mr Phu Ngan Bousi from Champasak’s art troupe said this is a good opportunity for his troupe to introduce the image of Champasak to international friends. “I like to perform in the ancient town of Hoi An”, he said.
