Many local and international visitors flocked to the culinary fair in downtown Sapa to see 31 chefs to show off their skills and enjoy local special dishes such as seven-colour steamed glutinous rice, pho chua (sour noodle soup), bamboo-tube rice, dried buffalo meat and traditional wine.
According to the organizing board, the fair aims to introduce traditional dishes from nearly 30 ethnic minority groups living in the northwestern mountainous provinces and their culinary arts to local and foreign tourists.
Going to the festival, visitors had a chance to enjoy performances by artists from Mong, Dao, Tay, Giay and Xa Pho ethnic groups.
Many folk games were also held including tug of war, crossbow, walking on stilts, and blind-man's-buff and archery. Visitors also had a chance to enjoy local residents performing their traditional handicrafts such as fabric weaving and brocade.
On the occasion, the Sapa tourism department organized a flower and ornamental tree market, a photo exhibition on “Sapa then and now” and roadshows to introduce Sapa’s tourism potential.
