Vietnamese table tennis players missed a chance to attend the 2012 London Olympics after being defeated at the Games’ Asian qualifying round in Hong Kong (China).

After two days of competition, the top four Vietnamese players, namely Tran Tuan Quynh, Dinh Quang Linh, Mai Hoang My Trang and Dao Viet Linh, failed to proceed in the round to earn an entrance ticket to this summer Games.

Quang Linh and My Trang were stopped early at the knock-out round, while Tuan Quynh and Viet Linh moved further but eventually lost to rivals from Japan and the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, respectively.

Despite their great efforts, Vietnamese players had to put to rest their dreams to join the world’s largest sporting event.
