A stone musical instrument (Dan Da or lithophone), which comprises of eight dark brown slabs of stones have been unearthed in a sand dune near the sea in Ham My commune, Ha Thuan Nam district, southern Binh Thuan province.

This was the first time a Dan Da was found in the coastal area, where the Sa Huynh Culture left deep imprints.

The discovery of the instrument in an area of urn tombs near the sea also posed many questions to scientists, as this kind of musical instrument had previously only been discovered in mountainous areas.

Scientists of the Binh Thuan Museum said that the Ham My lithophone was made skillfully and has special sounds. The museum will invite scientists to further examine the musical instrument.
