Statues of 14 Kings of the Tran dynasty were inaugurated at the historic site of Tran temple-Thap Pagoda in Nam Dinh city on February 7.

The cultural project aims to glorify the Tran dynasty (13th-14th century) - one of the most developed feudal dynasties in Vietnam, during which the people of Dai Viet (former name of Vietnam) wrote brilliant pages of the nation's history of national construction and defence.

Former Communist Party General Secretary Do Muoi and Most Venerable Thich Thanh Tu, Vice President of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha were among distinguished guests attending the event.

President Tran Duc Luong sent flowers and a letter of greetings to the inaugural ceremony.

Participants offered flowers and incense to the Tran Kings. The traditional rites of statue placement was held by Venerable Thich Quang Ha, member of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and deputy chairman of the standing committee of the Buddhist Church of Nam Dinh province.
