Mong Hoa and Mong Trang are two dialects to be used in the Mong ethnic language programme of Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) when it is broadcast from northwestern Son La province.

The decision was announced by VOV General Director, Prof. Dr. Vu Van Hien, at a recent seminar in

Son La.

Mr Hien said that VOV has chosen the Mong ethnic language to be used in radio broadcasts from Son La instead of Hanoi, as at present, with the aim of improving the quality of the programme.

The VOV General Director affirmed that the two dialects to be used in the programme will help to standardise the Mong ethnic language, both spoken and written at a national level.

He asked the VOV bureau in the northwestern region and the ethnic languages channel to quickly implement VOV leaders’ decision to broadcast the Mong ethnic language programme from Son La province as of September 7, 2008. This programme will also be launched on the Internet and Radio TV channel.
