The stamp issuance marked the 16^th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-EU diplomatic ties.

The "Vietnam-EU cooperation" stamps, designed by painter Pham Tuyet Anh, won the first prize at a stamp design contest under the initiative of the Vietnam Post and Telecommunications Group (VNPT) and the delegation of the European Commission to Vietnam.

According to Dr. Markus Cornaro, Ambassador, Head of the EC delegation to Vietnam, the messages carried by the commemorative stamps would travel around the world in the collections of millions of philatelists all over the world.
