An opening ceremony was held at Hanoi University on April 17 to launch a Spanish-speaking cultural week.

During the week, students will take part in workshops on the Spanish language and various cultural issues, as well as watching performances of local and foreign plays in Spanish.

The event aims to help Spanish faculty students better learn the language and culture, said Le Ngoc Tuong, vice dean of the university.

Spain and other Spanish-speaking countries have been handing out many scholarships to the university’s lecturers and exceptional students, he added.

The event was co-organized by the Spanish-language department of Hanoi University, the embassies of Spain, Argentina, Cuba, Mexico, Chile, Venezuela, and Panama in Vietnam, the Spanish Agency for International Cooperation and the Cervantes Institute.
