The Fine Arts Department under the Ministry of Culture and Information has launched a competition to find the best silk paintings.

The 2007 Silk-Painting Contest and Exhibition is open to both Vietnamese and foreign nationals, who can submit a maximum of two entries each (40 cm - 150 cm in length).

Artists must employ traditional techniques to depict typical scenes reflecting the country’s history and development.

To save shipping costs, entrants can send photos of their work to the Vietnam Fine Arts Museum at 66 Nguyen Thai Hoc, Hanoi, before September 15.

The organizers will announce the winners in early October.
