The Ministry of Culture and Information and Radio the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) opened a training course on live broadcasting at the Khanh Hoa provincial Radio and Television station on June 5.

The course is part of activities under the framework of phase II of the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA)-funded project on improving the capacity of Vietnamese press staff.

The 25 participants were mostly from district radio stations in Khanh Hoa and Quang Tri provinces. Trainers from VOV and two provincial radio stations join Swedish experts in running the course.

The June 5-10 training course will help district broadcasters promote the role of broadcasting in disseminating information and expanding democracy at the grassroots level.

SIDA has helped 30 radio and television stations in provinces and cities including the Khanh Hoa station develop live broadcasts. Radio broadcasts have now become more and more attractive to the as they can reach 70 percent of Vietnam’s population living in rural, remote and island areas.
