The screening of two films both by young Hanoi directors on April 16 raised the curtain of the third “Meeting of Short Films” programme.
The first, a documentary, simply titled "Kien," depicts the life of a young painter, Nguyen Trong Kien, who is a HIV/AIDS carrier. The film shows Kien’s struggle to overcome the tragic effects of the disease and actively take part in anti-HIV/AIDS programmes in Vietnam.
The second is “Giac mo lam cong nhan” (A Dream of Becoming A Worker). Film-buffs will be offered a chance to enjoy another five films selected from the latest European and Vietnamese movies of various genres including feature films, cartoons and documentaries.
As a special addition, many films selected at the International Clermont-Ferrand Film Festival will also be aired at the event, including “Co mot lan” (Once Upon A Time), “Ba muoi nam” (Thirty Years), and “Me toi, chuyen nhap cu”, (My Mother: A Migration Story).
The annual programme, which aims to promote the work of short filmmakers, will last through April 25.
