Director of the Music Conservatoire, Nguyen Phuc Linh said this is the first time the conservatoire has organised such a scientific seminar at a national level although it has collected, studied and preserved traditional music over the past 50 years. He added that the conservatoire has collected huge archives of traditional music and art performances from different regions of Vietnam. The archives helped the conservatoire compile a database of Vietnam’s traditional music heritage to meet public demand for studying this kind of music.
However, the archives have not been classified properly to officially become a national asset.
The seminar will be attended by representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Information, local departments of culture and information, and scientists who have contributed to preserving traditional music.
