A seminar on Japanese literature was held in HCM City on September 25 to mark the “Mekong-Japan Exchange Year”.

The event was co-organised by the Japan Foundation Centre for Cultural Exchange and the Japan Consulate General in HCM City.

Professor Mitsuyoshi Numano from Tokyo University presented a brief introduction of Japanese literature in the 21st century featuring famous modern writers and poets such as Soseki Natsume and Haruki Murakami.

The seminar drew the participation of popular Vietnamese writers Nguyen Ngoc, Nhat Chieu, Nguyen Danh Lam and Doan Le Giang. Participants discussed ways to introduce Vietnamese literature to Japanese readers, and to help people of the two countries understand each other’s cultural values.
