The Goethe Institutes in Southeast Asia countries have launched a competition for young filmmakers to raise public awareness of the importance of water in life.

The SEADocs competition aims to encourage and support young filmmakers in developing their innovations in pressing social and environmental issues in a professional way.

Participants, mostly students aged 18-28, from Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, are required to make a film on the theme “H2O: Sink or Swim”.

A jury of film, television and forestry experts will select three students based on a portfolio of their work and their motivational essays.

Each country’s shortlisted students will then receive expert guidance during the eight week production period for their competition entry film.
