Gaining 9 more gold medals on the 8th day of competition, Vietnam was in the third position as of November 19, ranking behind Thailand and the host, Indonesia, in the 26th SEA Games.
Indonesia led the list with 140 golds in a total of 355 medals, 10 gold medals short of its set goal.
Meanwhile, Thailand stood at 2nd position with 254 medals. Its delegation claims 85 gold medals.
Vietnam now ranks in 3rd place with 239 medals, including 80 gold, 77 silver and 82 bronze medals.
These figures are a success for the Vietnamese sports delegation, because before leaving for Indonesia, it set a goal of 70-75 gold medals.
Vietnam is now pinning their hopes on the judo, wushu and diving events.
