An exhibition of Russian literature opened in Hanoi on March 17 to open Russian Language and Culture Week in Vietnam.

On display are more than 800 works of non-fiction, history, science, education and Russian studies curriculum printed by leading publishing houses in the East-European country.

Addressing the opening ceremony, National Library Director Pham The Khang said Vietnam has highly appreciated its relations with Russia in economics, trade, culture and education and many other areas.

The two countries have regularly exchanged visits and cultural programmes. Hundreds of Vietnamese students go to Russia to study every year.

Deputy Director of the “Russia in the World” Fund-Library Vladimir Ugarov said the organising board will present the National Library of Vietnam with 100 books selected from those on display.

The event is co-sponsored by the National Library of Vietnam, the Russian Science and Culture Centre in Hanoi and the “Russia in the World” Fund-Library.
