Booyoung company from the Republic of Korea on November 24 granted eight scholarships to outstanding second-year Vietnamese students at Korean language departments.

The annual scholarships, each worth US$1,200, will be available in the first semester of the 2006-2007 school year.

The scholarships are aimed at helping disadvantaged students develop their talents, as well as contributing to fostering Vietnam-RoK relations, said Booyoung President Lee Joong Keun.

Students with excellent achievements will also have the chance to study in the RoK, he added.

Earlier, the Booyoung company provided US$10,000 in non-refundable aid to equip primary schools with 140,000 anti-glaring boards and to build a secondary school in Tam Ky district, central Quang Nam province.
