Cookin’ Nanta features fascinating show by skilled chefs along with acrobatics, magic tricks, comedy, pantomimes and audience participation.
The unifying element throughout the performance is traditional Korean samul nori music, using improvised instruments such as cutting boards, water containers and kitchen knives.
Considered a must-see event in Seoul, Cookin’ Nanta serves as a bridge linking the traditional and the modern; the ancient Oriental and dynamic Western cultures.
Over the past decade, Cookin’ Nanta has been performed in 141 cities of 17 countries around the world. It has also received the honour of being the first Asian art performance to be staged on Broadway, New York City, in 2004.
Cookin’ Nanta debuted in Vietnam in 2004 as the most prominent cultural activity to celebrate the 5th Asia-Europe Meeting.
This year’s event marks 20 years of Vietnam-RoK diplomatic ties and the successful completion of the Keangnam Hanoi Landmark Tower project, a super-tall RoK skyscraper in Hanoi.
A portion of the event’s proceeds will be donated to help disadvantaged students in Vietnam access a university education.
