Gibus (real name Alain de Spiegeleer) is well-known for his humorous songs in French and Creole about everyday life. In his 40 year musical career, he has spent most of his time singing songs for children.
His inspiration comes from many places, including the expressiveness of young children. He has the ability to encourage crowds of children to join dancing, jumping, stomping and clapping. He also enthralls audiences with funny dances of his own.
The 57 year-old singer has won several artistic prizes including the Creation Chansons Enfants (Children’s songwriter of the year) in Belgium.
Gibus is not only a singer, but also a comedian and a poet, loved by children around the world. He is especially popular in Belgium, France, Switzerland, Asia and South Africa and has recorded 30 albums since 1978.
The performances will be held at the Hanoi Opera House at 7.30pm on March 20 (invitation only) and at 2pm on March 21 at the National Academy of Music at 77 Hao Nam Street with free entry to the public.
