The first exhibition of religious paintings of Vietnam's northern ethnic minorities opened in Hanoi on May 26.
The exhibition organised by the US Embassy in Vietnam, the Hanoi Fine Arts College and Dong Son Nowadays foundation displays 300 typical paintings highlighting the worship rituals of the Dao, Tay, Nung, Cao Lan and San Diu ethnic groups.
About 300 objects depicting ethnic groups' daily lives are also put on show.
The painting collection is part of the cultural heritage of the ethnic minorities in the northern part of Vietnam which needs to be preserved, said Dr. Frederick Harris, President of the Dong Son Nowadays foundation and exhibition organiser.
The collection will later be exhibited in Tokyo this October and then in New York City.
