Toan lost his champion title to Li Fabin from China in the men’s 56-kg category though both successfully lifted 279kg as the Chinese competitor’ weight is nearly 1kg less than Toan.

With the silver medal, Toan now qualifies for the London Olympic status, while his teammate Thach Kim Tuan, who is in Group A with seven foreign competitors, has failed to proceed to the champs.

Toan surpassed Tuan in the men’s 56-kg category as he ranked fourth at the 2011 world weight-lifting champs and clinched a gold medal at the recent 26 SEA Games.
