According to director of the Quang Nam provincial Department of Tourism Dinh Hai, the theme of the Quang Nam tourism this year is “One destination - two world heritage sites”.
The launch ceremony for the tourism year will be held on February 11 under the theme “Spring Festival”. The festival, to be held in Hoi An, Duy Xuyen, Thang Binh and My Son till March, will feature cultural activities such as the Tra Que Vegetable Village Festival, Tet Nguyen Tieu (festival of the 15th day of the first lunar month), Thanh Ha Pottery Village Festival, Thu Bon Festival, and Cham Traditional Festival.
Boat and craft village tours will be held in April and May to introduce tourists to the daily activities of craft villages, including Thanh Ha pottery, Kim Bong wood, Phuoc Kieu bronze-casting, and Ma Chau-Dong Yen-Thi Lai weaving.
In June, the “Quang Nam Tourism Year” will continue with the “Hoi An - Summer Emotion” festival which includes a sea festival, cuisine week, fashion shows, an international sculpture camp and a national beach volleyball tournament held on Dai Beach for the first time.
Cultural tours of ethnic people living in Truong Son Range and legendary Ho Chi Minh Trail areas will be the main focus in July. A cultural festival of ethnic minority groups in Quang Nam province, a military operation in Truong Son Range, and a tour of mountainous provinces along the Ho Chi Minh Trail will be highlights of the programme.
The tourism events will be followed by the Chu Lai open econoic zone programme in August, featuring traditional sea festivals and sports in Nui Thanh and Tam Ky districts and at the Phu Ninh eco-tourism site.
The last topic to welcome the 2007 and the 10th anniversary of Quang Nam province will be held in December, with a range of cultural activities to be held in the ancient town of Hoi An.
