A Vietnamese cuisine week is being held at the Grand Melia Hotel in Jakarta from June 5-11.

The directorate board of the hotel invited three cooks from the Melia Hanoi to prepare Vietnamese specialities. Opening day attracted around 400 guests, including diplomats and businesspeople.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, General Director of the Melia Hotel, Conrad Bergwerf who has been working in Vietnam for 20 years, said that he loves Vietnamese cuisine and considers the country a second homeland.

Vietnamese counselor to Indonesia, Le Quang Cong said that the week provided a good chance for Vietnam to promote its cuisine.

Indonesian people love Vietnamese dishes, especially “Pho” (Noodle Soup). There are now many Vietnamese restaurants in Jakarta, such as Pho 2000, Pho 24, Vietopia, My Hanoi House, Viet Village and Vietnam Valley, which have attracted through of customers.
