The seminar, chaired by VOV Deputy General Director Le Dinh Dao, drew the participation of representatives from the Vietnam Communist Party Central Committee's Information and Education Commission and the Institute for Social Sciences of Vietnam, as well as heads of VOV departments.
A representative from the VOV listener department said that in recent years, the department has promoted its work to serve VOV’s renewal process by encouraging listeners feedback, conducting audience surveys, launching new feature programmes and participating in various social activities.
On average, VOV receives 12,000-15,000 letters from listeners every week. Since 1989, VOV has carried out 16 audience surveys on different programmes, including four surveys between 2000 and 2005. In 2005 alone, VOV online newspaper (VOVNews) conducted a survey on its readers. All these surveys have provided an overall view of the quality of radio broadcasting programmes and helped VOV staff understand more about listeners’ interests.
Speaking at the seminar, VOV Deputy General Director Le Dinh Dao emphasized the importance of gathering listeners feedback, considering this a painstaking but dynamic task that needs enthusiastic and creative staff.
