Nghi confirmed this at a meeting of the municipal Party Committee, the People’s Council and the People’s Committee and leaders of 29 districts and townships on March 31, adding that there was no approval at any authorised level for this project.

He asked the municipal Department for Culture, Sports and Tourism to learn from this mistake.

Earlier, on March 22, the Department for Culture, Sports and Tourism held a press briefing to introduce the project of a time capsule, which would comprise 1,000 objects selected from all cities and provinces nationwide, to celebrate the millennium anniversary of the capital city.
