Vietnam's most famous classical pianist Dang Thai Son will perform in concerts at the Hanoi Opera House on November 26-27 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Hanoi National Conservatoire.

Pianist Son will perform with the Hanoi Symphony Orchestra which will be conducted by Mats Liljefors from the Swedish Royal Chamber Music Orchestra.

They will play well-known classical works such as the Overture of Wilhelm by G. Rossini, the Piano Concerto No. 27 by W. A. Mozart and Symphony No. 4 by P. Tchaikovsky.

Speaking at a press briefing in Hanoi on Nov. 22 to introduce Son's performance programme in Vietnam, Mats Liljefors praised the development of classical music in Vietnam.

Son rose to world fame when he won the 10th Frederick Chopin Piano Competition in 1980, becoming the first Asian winner of the prestigious contest at that time.
