The customs and culture of a period in the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s history as ancient as the Roman Empire in Europe are being brought to life at a photo exhibition in the Korean Culture Centre in Hanoi.

Captured in the 69 photos are murals discovered in tombs from the Koguryo dynasty (100 BC-668 AD) - the first feudal state in the history of the RoK, whose technique and accuracy provided an exemple for oriental paintings in the early middle ages.

Among the colourful and vivid depictions are women dancing, fighting warriors and wild animals; the most impressive example being Anak Tumulus No.3, found in one of the oldest and biggest Koguryo tumuli unearthed.

The exhibition is co-organized by the Korean Culture Centre and the Northeast Asian History Foundation to celebrate the 15th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and the RoK.

It will run until August 31 at 49 Nguyen Du Street in Hanoi.
