A photography exhibition commemorating the 51 years of the Agent Orange (AO)/dioxin catastrophe in Vietnam opened in Ho Chi Minh City on August 1.

On display are 102 photographs, reflecting the long-term effects of AO/dioxin on generations of Vietnamese people and the environment.

The images also show the AO/dioxin victims’ iron will to overcome daily hardship and agonizing pains to excel in their work and education, as well as their strong resolve to demand justice.

Since early 2011, the HCM City Association for Victims of Agent Orange/Dioxin has mobilized over VND2.6 billion and spent VND2 billion to assist the unfortunate victims.

Further to these funds, American war veterans and Vietnamese expatriats in France have raised US$10,000 and EUR2,200, respectively, to provide orthopedic surgeries for 21 victims of these lethal chemicals.

Recently, the Republic of Korea’s association for victims of AO/dioxin has funded orthopedic surgeries for 13 of these victims.
