Joachim Skerl, a professor of arts who had lectured in Vietnam, described the paintings as vivid a demonstration of the war aftermath from which the Vietnamese people have suffered, as well as their aspirations for peace.
Dang Tran Cu, a counsellor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany, praised the initiative to organise the exhibition. He said that it would make local people further understand and love Vietnam.
