The Vietnam Committee on Population, Family and Children and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) held an awards ceremony in Hanoi on June 29 to announce the results of the recent painting contest on preventing, taking care, and helping HIV/AIDS children.

The contest, launched from March until May, attracted the participation of 1,700 painters, HIV carriers and children from 24 provinces and cities across the country, with 4,200 posters and paintings.

Entries focused on the hard life of HIV/AIDS-infected children to call attention to community’s efforts in preventing HIV/AIDS infection and reducing discrimination against HIV/AIDS carriers.

The organising board presented two second prizes, two third prizes, two consolation prizes to painters and 14 prizes for children.

After the ceremony, a painting exhibition was opened to introduce 110 pictures, 91 of them from children who expressed their desires for effective assistance and help to prevent HIV/AIDS infection.

The exhibition will run until July 6.
