The Chua Thanh pagoda in the northern border province of Lang Son has been recognized as a Buddhist pagoda with the biggest volume of bronze statues in Vietnam.
Chua Thanh or Dien Khanh Tu, located in Lang Son city, has 53 bronze statues of Bodhisattvas and holy monks.
Built in the 15th century, the pagoda was recognized as a national historical relic site in 1993. It is an artistically architectural work with valuable antiques.
On December 31, the pagoda held a ceremony to cast a 2.1-tonne bronze bell with funds from Buddhist monks and followers nationwide in celebration of its new title.
