Established in June 2006, the Group X-Vietnam has held a number of activities and gathered many people to develop relations between the two countries. In particular, the group has helped Vietnamese and French investors to do business in both countries.
The group’s members are intellectuals and experts in the fields of economics, trade, culture, science and learning.
Ph.D Tran Bang, the group’s president, said that it focuses on three kinds of people: French people who want to invest in Vietnam, Vietnamese people who emigrated to France in the 60-70s and students of Vietnamese origin living in France and other countries. The first group wants to gain a better understanding of Vietnam and to seek out opportunities in Vietnam, the second group wants to return to Vietnam to make a contribution to their homeland and the third group includes young people who have studied overseas but know the country well. They all look forward coming back to to Vietnam, said Mr Bang.
Over the past two years, Group-X has come up with a number of ways to attract more French and overseas Vietnamese people to do business in Vietnam.
Group-X currently has more than 200 members, mainly in France and Vietnam.
