Between October 2009 and August 2010, more than 3.2 million entries were sent to a contest testing contestants’ knowledge about the 1000-year history of Thang Long-Hanoi, say contest organizers.

Of the total, nearly one million entries came from Hanoi.

The thickest entry, which was submitted by two people from the northern province of Bac Ninh, ran more than 1,000 pages.

The oldest entrant was Vu Duy Binh, aged 100, from Hanoi.

Some other impressive entries include one written on a conical hat by Steven Tait, a Canadian, and the one printed on a 2.2m-high dragon shape by young people from the Cavico Vietnam company.
