A countryside culinary arts festival for the Northwestern Region will take place in Sa Pa district, northern Lao Cai province from April 14-17 with the participation of 28 chefs, who are ethnic minority people from eight mountainous provinces in the region.
Launched by Lao Cai province and the Vietnam Farmers Union, the event will provide a good chance for 30 ethnic groups in the region to introduce more than 60 traditional dishes to domestic and foreign tourists, thus contributing to the preservation of local identities and promotion of local tourism.
The festival will also highlight the role of farmers’ union chapters in building rural areas.
During the festival, Lao Cai province will organize an international Phansipang mountain climbing contest and some other traditional cultural events.
