A tourism week, entitled “Ninh Binh – Charming Landscape”, began in the northern province of Ninh Binh, about 90 km away from Hanoi, on April 9 with the aim of promoting the province’s potential for tourism development.
Addressing the opening ceremony, provincial People’s Committee Chairman Bui Van Thang said that tourism, the province’s spearhead sector, has achieved a number of remarkable developments in recent years, with larger-scale investment projects and an annual increase in the number of tourists.
He said that the province is diversifying its types of tourism, including cultural and historical tourism, mind and spirit tourism and ecological tourism.
With more tourism development projects being launched, Ninh Binh expects to receive 3 million visitors and earn VND 1 trillion from tourism services by 2015.
A number of activities will be included during the week such as a trade fair, a workshop on Ninh Binh’s tourism and a historical antiques exhibition.
