Gourmands will be tempting their taste buds at this year’s New Zealand Wine and Food Festival, to be held on March 11 at the Riverside Apartments in An Phu, overlooking the Sai Gon River.

The New Zealand Business Council said the event would feature a delicious range of the country’s finest wines and delicacies prepared with culinary flair and unique ingredients by chefs from the city’s leading hotels.

Nearly 20 different wines have been specially imported for the festival, including varietals such as Kumeu River Pinot Gris, Palliser Estate Pinot Noir, Kingsley Estate merlot Cabernet, Lawsons Dry Hills Gewurztraminer, Neudorf Brightwater Riesling, Shingle Peak Sauvigon Blanc Morton Estate Chardonnay, Millton Vineyard Chenin Blanc and Ata Rangi Summer Rose.

Gourmet food will be prepared by leading hotels and restaurants. The Nga Hau E Wha Maori Culture Group, a renowned dance troupe, will be flying in to perform a Haka or war dance accompanied by chanting, along with other traditional pieces.

Children’s entertainment is to include a circus performance, face painting and bouncy taste. A kid’s menu will be specially prepared by Alfrescos Restaurant.

Festival proceeds will be donated to poor children at Ba Chieu Shelter, Vung Tau Orphanage, Green Bamboo (Tre Xanh) and Nguyen Nga shelters.
