Over 7,800 athletes from 63 teams around the country have registered to compete in the 8th National Sports Festival, which will be held in Can Tho city from July 26 to August 12.
At a press conference on July 12, Can Tho city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism and Department of Education and Training announced that the athletes will be tested in 19 events.
Hanoi has the largest number of athletes with 493, followed by Danang (478), Can Tho (467) and Ho Chi Minh City (465).
Preparations for the event are going well, according to Tran Trong Khiem, director of the Can Tho municipal Department of Education and Training. The organizing board has prepared 14,000 hotel rooms and 2,000 free accommodations at college hostels in the city for participating delegations, he noted.
